What we collect when you use this website or reserve bread, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to hold your bread and reach you about it: a name for the bag, your mobile number, and your email address if you choose email.
  • Your number is used for your reservation and nothing else. We don’t send marketing texts or emails, and we never sell your information or share it for advertising.
  • There are no online payments. You pay at the counter when you collect.
  • The site sets no cookies for visitors and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
  • We remove your name, number and email from a reservation 90 days after its pickup day.
  • Questions, or want your information deleted? Email support@bakershousebread.com or call (463) 348-2299.

Who we are

The Baker’s House is a bakery at 365 S. Main Street, Zionsville, IN 46077, owned and operated by Zionsville Sourdough Supply LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website — including reservations and the enquiry form — and through the texts and emails we send about your orders. Other companies’ websites that we link to have their own policies.

What we collect

When you reserve bread

  • the pickup day, the pickup window and what you reserve;
  • a name for the bag (first name and last initial is plenty);
  • your mobile number, which we use to confirm the reservation and to find it again if you lose the link;
  • how you’d like your confirmation — by text or by email — and your email address if you choose email;
  • whether you’d like a text when your order is ready;
  • if you choose texts, a record of what you agreed to and when.

We give each reservation a reference and a private link, so you can see or cancel it without an account.

When you look up a reservation

We check the reference and mobile number you enter against our records. If a lookup fails, we note the reference that was tried and your IP address, to guard against anyone guessing at other people’s orders.

When you send a wholesale or events enquiry

Your name, your business or event, your email address and your message.

When you ask us to add a bread to the comparison tool

The brand, the bread and, if you tell us, where you buy it. Nothing about you.

When you apply for a job, email us or call

Applications come by email to apply@bakershousebread.com. Whatever you send or tell us, we use to reply and to help.

Automatically

Like any website, ours receives your IP address and basic details of each request, such as the page asked for and the time. We use IP addresses to limit repeated attempts — too many reservations or lookups in a short time, for example — and our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The comparison tool keeps simple anonymous counts — how often the page is opened, each loaf is compared and each ingredient is tapped — with no cookies and nothing that identifies you.

In the shop

Payments at the counter are handled by our point-of-sale provider, Toast, and your card network; we never receive your full card number. If you join House Points, our loyalty program at the counter, it keeps the contact details you sign up with and your points balance.

We don’t ask for your home address, date of birth or payment details online.

How we use it

  • to take your reservation, bag it with your name on it and have it ready for you;
  • to send your confirmation, and the texts or emails you ask for (see Texts and emails);
  • to let you view or cancel your reservation, and to tell you if we have to cancel it;
  • to reply to enquiries and applications;
  • to keep the website and reservations secure and working, and to prevent abuse;
  • to keep the records we need to run the bakery, and to meet our legal obligations.

We don’t use your information for marketing, and we don’t make automated decisions about you. If we ever want to send marketing messages, we’ll ask your permission separately first — never as a condition of a reservation.

Texts and emails

We only text you if you choose text for your confirmation or tick “Also text me when the order is bagged and ready.” The texts we send are:

  • your reservation confirmation, with your reference and your private link;
  • a note that your order is bagged and ready, if you asked for one;
  • word that we’ve had to cancel your reservation, if that ever happens.

That’s usually one to three texts per reservation. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop our texts; to start them again, reply START and choose texts on your next reservation. Reply HELP, or call us, for help. Emails are only about your reservation or your enquiry — we don’t send newsletters.

Your mobile number and your agreement to receive texts are never shared with anyone for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The only companies that handle them are the service providers that deliver our messages and run this website. The full text-message terms are in our Terms of service.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the bakery and this website, and only for that work:

  • Vercel hosts and runs this website;
  • Neon is our database, where reservations and enquiries are stored;
  • Twilio sends our texts;
  • Resend sends our emails;
  • our email service receives the messages you send to our inboxes;
  • Anthropic runs the help assistant our staff can ask about using this website. It gets their questions, not your reservation records;
  • Toast takes payments and runs House Points at the counter.

Our records are stored in the United States. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety or rights of our customers, staff or others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the bakery — in which case this policy keeps applying to what we collected.

Cookies and similar technologies

The public pages of this site set no cookies. We keep one small note in your browser’s session storage so the home page’s opening animation plays only once per visit; it’s cleared when you close the tab. Our hosting provider may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn’t an automated bot. The staff sign-in pages use cookies to keep staff signed in; customers never get them.

We don’t use analytics, advertising or social media trackers, so there’s nothing to opt out of — but we honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals all the same.

How long we keep it

InformationHow long we keep it
Your name, mobile number and email on a reservation, and your agreement to texts90 days after the pickup day. After that we keep only the reservation’s date, items and total, with no personal details, and its private link stops working.
Copies of the texts and emails we send90 days
IP addresses in our security records90 days. Entries used to limit repeated attempts are deleted soon after they expire, usually within a day.
Wholesale and events enquiriesTwo years from when you send them
Job applicationsAs long as we need to consider you, and no longer than 12 months unless you join us
A request to stop textsKept, so that we keep honoring it

Twilio and Resend keep their own records of the messages they deliver, for as long as their policies set. Deleted information can also remain in our providers’ routine backups for a short time before those backups are overwritten.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it — everything we don’t need to keep for the bakery’s records or by law;
  • stop texting you (you can also reply STOP at any time).

To make a request, email support@bakershousebread.com or call (463) 348-2299. We’ll confirm it’s you — for example, by asking for the reservation reference and the mobile number you used — and respond within 30 days. You can cancel a reservation yourself at any time with the link in your confirmation. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these choices.

If your state has its own consumer privacy law, you may have further rights under it; the requests above are open to everyone.

Keeping it secure

The whole site uses HTTPS. Only the bakery’s owners and staff can see reservation details: the back office needs a sign-in, every change to an order is signed with a personal PIN, and passwords and PINs are stored as secure hashes. Private reservation links are long random codes, and we limit repeated attempts to guess them. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your information, we’ll tell you promptly.

Children

This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Before we use information in a significantly different way — when online accounts or payments arrive, for example — we’ll update this policy first, and we won’t apply a significant change to information we already hold without your permission.
