Our story began with a classic sourdough boule made with flour, water and salt. We are dedicated to reviving traditional fermentation techniques and unique delicious flavor to everyday products like crackers, hamburger buns, and baguettes. We also offer sourdough sandwich bread and pizza dough balls.
Each loaf takes roughly 36 hours to make from start to finish. At the heart of all our sourdough products, is the sourdough starter: a mix of flour and water, this natural yeast is used in place of commercial yeast, which is found in all other bread. The starter is a fermenting organism that contains bacteria and wild yeasts derived from our very own Zionsville ecosystem, making a Sourdough profile unlike any other.
Aside from the deliciously distinguished flavor we have all come to know and love, sourdough has several health benefits. The low pH and long fermentation cause the more complex nutrients like gluten, carbs and proteins to be broken down before you even take a bite, making it more easily digestible. Sourdough also reduces levels of FODMAPS and breaks down the phytate complex, ensuring our bodies absorb minerals that are normally sequestered in bread baked with commercial yeast.
Until the opening of The Baker's House this January, we accept online orders for pickup at our home kitchen. Most loaves will be baked the same day that you pick them up.
We welcome large orders and gift baskets which require 1 week's notice.
